Readers will be discussing The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell by Robert Dugoni. Copies of the new club book are available at the circulation desk. Ages 18+. Registration not required.
Stop by the community room to pick out seeds for your spring garden. From 5:30-6:30 join MSU Extension Wayne County Educator Lindsey Kerr as she talks about how to start cool season crops (like cabbage, kale and broccoli) as well as warm season favorites (like tomatoes, peppers and eggplants). Each participant will take home a small pot of seeds to start at home. Registration is required by calling 734-283-1250 or by stopping by the circulation desk.
A great opportunity to try new paper crafting & journaling techniques. Bring your existing journal or get a new one the night of the event! Best suited for ages 12+. Registration begins January 30 and ends when the event is full.

The kit features a small sample of Sumac, a brief description/history of the spice, recipes featuring the spice and a few blank recipe cards to record your own creations. Registration not required. On Christmas Eve 1913 73 people died (mostly children) in a stampede following a false cry of "Fire!" at the Italian Hall in Calumet in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The tragedy occurred during a miner's strike in the "Copper Country”. Make plans to attend to hear the rest of the story. Best suited for ages 13+.
